Substance Abuse Council of Vanderburgh County

The Substance Abuse Council of Vanderburgh County was organized in 1990 in cooperation with the United Way Task Force on alcohol and drug abuse. With assistance from the Governor's Commission, the Task Force expanded to include a broader representation of community groups.

The Council was incorporated in 1995 and in 1996 became a 501C3, non-profit organization. The Council is mandated by the State of Indiana to be divided into three categories, Treatment/Intervention, Prevention/Education, and Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice.

The Substance Abuse Council of Vanderburgh County also has a committee to work with youth, an Events Committee and a Screening Committee to oversee the funding of grants.
